May Simargool
May Simargool is a self-taught illustrator born in Bangkok (an exotic capital city in South East Asia) and raised in Staines (a not so exotic commuter town outside of London). Growing up, her regular Saturday visits to the local library proved to be formative to her current work. Hours spent in the graphic novel aisle resulted in an appreciation for story-telling through images and the escapism that comes with it. Her favoured ink is black and her preferred canvas is white; she is fixated on the contrast between the two and the lines and textures she can create using just a pen and a piece of paper. May is currently based in Leeds, and has been for six years, but still causes confusion when she says ‘dinner’ to mean an evening meal.
